Welcome! I’m Reni Ruan, the artist behind Our Ceramics. I am originally from the vibrant city of Guangzhou, China, and now calling New York City home. Since 2014 I have spent years immersed in the fashion industry, but my creative path took an exciting turn during Covid when I discovered pottery. 

What started as a personal urge to design has blossomed into a passionate pursuit of ceramic art. It has quickly become more than just a creative outlet; it’s a therapeutic practice that soothes my anxiety and allows me to explore art in a deeply personal way.

My fascination with geometric shapes began in college when I encountered Raven's Progressive Matrices in a psychology course. This non-verbal intelligence test uses geometric designs to measure one’s problem-solving skills and logical thinking. I was completely captivated by how shapes and forms could express complex ideas with beauty and communicate without words, which eventually inspired me to incorporate these elements into my pottery.

Each piece I create reflects my obsession with geometric designs, combining playful textures, striking color contrasts, and functional elegance. Although I initially kept my creations to myself as a hobby, the encouragement of friends and family has inspired me to share my work with the world.
